QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Is caring for hair extensions difficult?

It is not difficult, but there are a few rules to follow to keep your hair healthy and looking great. You can find care tips in our Hair Extensions Care Instructions.

When should I schedule a maintenance appointment?

Fusion extensions should be maintained when your hair has grown approximately 3-4 cm, which typically occurs every 10-14 weeks on average. You should also consider a maintenance appointment if your extensions are significantly tangled (follow Hair Extensions Care Instructions to avoid tangling).

Can I miss or postpone my maintenance or removal appointment?

It is crucial for the health of the client's hair to attend maintenance or removal appointments on time. As the hair grows, naturally shed hair accumulates in the bonds. If appointments are postponed, this shed hair can start to tangle, potentially causing damage to the client's natural hair.

How will my fusion maintenance happen?

Maintaining fusion extensions is a complex process that begins with the removal of your extensions. They then undergo the retipping process, during which the old bonds are removed and replaced with new ones. This may result in a reduction of 1–3 cm in the length of your extensions. Afterward, your retipped extensions will be reapplied in a process identical to the fitting procedure you experienced when you first got them.

Does your extension remover contain acetone?

No. Acetone can dry out hair and make it fragile. Our remover is acetone-free and contains no harsh chemicals. Instead, it is enriched with glycerin and hydrolyzed silk, which protect the hair from breakage by closing the cuticle at the points of application. A touch of keratin enhances the remover, softening the bond so that minimal use of the removal tool is needed. Just a drop of our remover and two gentle presses with the removal tool are all it takes.

Are hair extensions real hair?

Our high-quality hair extensions are made from real human hair, while cheaper extensions are usually made from synthetic materials

What hair type is better?

The choice of hair is unique to each client and depends on their hair structure. We keep a variety of hair types in stock, including European, Indian, and Slavic hair, all of which offer exceptional qualities, including a longer lifespan, allowing the hair to be reused multiple times.

Which hair extensions are the best?

Remy hair extensions with 100% healthy cuticles are the highest quality extensions available. At Your Dream Hair, we work with hair of this exceptional standard. If you're looking for the best hair extensions on the market, we’ll be delighted to assist you in our studio.

What is Remy hair?

The term "Remy" refers to hair with all cuticles aligned in the same direction, mimicking the natural pattern of hair growth (roots aligned with roots, ends aligned with ends). This alignment prevents tangling and makes the hair easy to brush. This is the type of hair we use at Your Dream Hair.
In contrast, non-Remy hair has misaligned cuticles that interlock with the client’s natural hair, leading to tangling. This tangling cannot be resolved, even with the use of hair conditioners or masks.

Which type of hair extensions looks the most natural?

For your extensions to look natural, they must meet the following criteria:
-
They should be made from real human hair.
-
The color must be properly matched to your natural hair. If your hair has multiple tones, you may need extension bundles in different shades to blend seamlessly with your style (e.g., highlights).
-
Extensions must be properly fitted.
-
Sufficient amount of hair should be installed to cover the transition between the extensions and your natural locks.

Are hair extensions permanent?

There is no such thing as truly permanent hair extensions. However, here are the types of extensions available on the market:
Temporary Extensions – These are designed for occasional use. Examples include Clip-In and String extensions.
Semi-Permanent Extensions – These can stay in your hair for weeks or months, depending on the method. While they offer the closest result to permanence, it’s important to remember that regular maintenance appointments are essential. These appointments ensure the extensions are shifted higher as your natural hair grows and keep the strands secure and safe for your hair.

Are hair extensions suitable for everyone?

Hair extensions are a cosmetic procedure and should only be applied to healthy hair. Certain medical conditions may prevent you from getting hair extensions, including:
-
Vegetative-vascular dystonia
-
Medical hair loss conditions (e.g., alopecia, psoriasis, eczema)
-
Infestations
-
Toxoplasmosis
-
Undergoing cancer treatment or taking hormonal medications
-
Severe breakage in the first few inches of natural hair
-
Excessively greasy hair
-
An overly sensitive scalp
However, there are no restrictions for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

My hair is thin. Will my hair extensions be visible?

We custom-craft hair extensions for our clients. Our fusion extensions deliver stunning results, adding both volume and length to thin hair. Each set is color-matched to your natural hair, ensuring a neat and natural look. We select the color of Italian keratin to match your roots, allowing us to create invisible bonds that you won’t feel in your hair.

Can hair extensions be applied to short hair?

If you wish to get hair extensions, your natural hair should be at least 5-7 cm long. At Your Dream Hair, we handle extensions of any complexity. When you entrust us with your hair, you can rest assured that the end result will look natural, with invisible bonds that blend seamlessly into your locks, regardless of length or density.

How are hair extensions applied?

An extension strand is attached to your natural hair by a bond slightly below the root area, along the length of the strand.

Can I reuse my hair extensions?

Absolutely! Our hair quality is exceptional, and it can be reused multiple times, so there's no need to buy new hair every few months! For example, our European hair can last 8-12 months, while our Slavic hair, with proper care, can last 1.5 years or more. During this time, it can be reused multiple times.

Which type of hair extensions lasts the longest?

Real human hair with 100% healthy and intact cuticle structure offers the longest-lasting results. For example, the hair we use at our studio lasts our clients 8-18 months with proper care and regular maintenance appointments.

Are hair extensions expensive?

While cheaper hair extension options are available on the market, they tend to lead to disappointment. If you want extensions that look natural and are easy to style and maintain, investing in high-quality, real human hair is the only option. When you opt for inexpensive products made from synthetic materials, you're essentially getting what you paid for and nothing more. Real human hair of good quality cannot be cheap, as the cost of any extension hair includes:
-
The amount paid to the person selling their hair
-
Fees charged by the factory for processing (including materials for disinfection, bleaching, dyeing, labor costs, and other business expenses)
-
Shipping costs
-
Duties

High-quality hair is an expensive material. Therefore, if someone is offering you real human hair at a low price, they are either selling at a loss (which is unlikely, as vendors want their businesses to stay profitable), or, more likely, the vendor has cut production costs, affecting the quality of the hair extensions you receive.

What are the prices?

The price of hair extensions varies and is based on the following factors:
-
Origin and quantity of the hair
-
Cost of custom-making your extensions
-
Cost of applying the hair extensions
Refer to the Prices section for an estimate and contact us to receive an accurate price for your custom-made hair extensions.

How many hair extensions do I need?

There is no universal answer to this question. The amount of hair you need depends entirely on your goals, as well as the thickness and length of your natural hair. We highly recommend visiting our studio for an in-person consultation to determine the optimal amount of hair and provide an accurate price estimate.

Are hair extensions uncomfortable?

You may experience some temporary moderate sensations as your scalp adjusts to the new weight in the first 1-2 weeks, but extensions should never be uncomfortable or painful in the long term. Properly fitted hair extensions will feel like your natural locks and will be completely safe for your hair. If your extensions continue to cause discomfort for more than 1-2 weeks after installation, it means they are applying too much pressure and weight on your roots. Our method ensures the most gentle and safe experience for both you and your hair.

Are hair extensions damaging?

Hair extensions will not cause damage if all of the following conditions are met:
-
Only high quality hair and materials are used, matching your hair type
-
Your extensions are applied by a professional using a proper technique
-
You diligently follow the hair care instructions
-
Removal is performed by a professional using a proper technique, not by yourself or by a friend who watched online tutorials
Failure to meet these conditions may result in hair damage.

Will my hair shed more after getting extensions?

No, it will not. However, on average, a person sheds about 100 hairs per day. When you have hair extensions installed, the shed hairs can get trapped in the extension bonds. These are the hairs you may notice during your maintenance or removal appointments. This is completely natural and not a sign of increased shedding.

My scalp is itching. Why?

It is normal for your scalp to feel itchy during the first 1-2 weeks as it adjusts to the added hair. Your scalp may also feel a bit dry initially, but this will fade. It may take a couple of nights to get used to the feeling of the extensions. If your scalp continues to itch after 1-2 weeks, make sure to rinse your hair thoroughly at the roots when washing. Residual shampoo can irritate your scalp, causing itching.

Why do hair extensions get tangled?

This may be happening for two reasons:
-
Your extensions may be of poor quality (which is not possible at our studio, as we use only the best quality hair).
-
You may not be following a proper hair extension care routine. It’s worth reviewing it, there could be a few things you’re missing that will make a significant difference in how your extensions look and feel.

Can hair extensions be dyed?

Hair extensions made from natural human hair can be dyed just like regular hair. However, the dyeing process may differ for extensions, as they have been processed and may be slightly porous as a result. That’s why it’s important to ensure that the person dyeing your extensions understands the specifics of the process.

Can I take a break from wearing hair extensions?

Definitely! If you wish to take a break from your hair extensions, you can schedule a removal appointment. Once removed, your extensions will be returned to you. When you're ready to have extensions again, simply bring them back, and we will retip and reapply them for you.

Will hair extensions suit me?

They certainly will! Would you agree that smiles suit everyone? We’ve yet to meet a client who doesn’t light up with a joyful smile when they see their enhanced look!
